Mega Man X7 is the seventh game in the Mega Man X series. It was originally released on Playstation 2. It was the first Mega Man X game with 3D graphics and it can switch from 2D gameplay to 3D gameplay within the same stage. Much like Mega Man X6, it's generally consider to be one of, if not, the worst game in the Mega Man X series by the fans.

Some time has passed since the "Zero Nightmare" incident, and Zero has returned. But, the Earth is still reeling from the Eurasia disaster, on top of that X has officially announced his retirement from his Maverick Hunter duties and now works alongside Alia and Signas, and Maverick Hunter suffered dearly in his stpping down. One day, while Zero was on a special assignment, he has ran into a newly created reploid, his name was Axl, who works for another reploid orginization called "Red Alert". With them helping Maverick Hunter, they can stop the mavericks. Then, a suprise maverick attak happened, Signas had even told X to reinstate himself as a Hunter to help Zero and Axl on this new attack. Thus, beginning a new battle.
