Navi Specialties
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
During Liberate Missions, each navi has a unique ability or attack that proves to be a valuable asset to the team in one way or another.
MegaMan.EXE
MegaMan's LongSword attack allows him to liberate two vertical panels in one turn, although it will cost the team an order point. The attack doesn't work unless the second panel is directly behind the one he is attempting to liberate.
Colonel.EXEOrder Ability:: ScreenDivide
Special Chip::
Colonel's special ability is called ScreenDivide, and it allows him to Liberate three horizontal panels at once, providing there is a panel to the left and right of the one he is attacking. This will also cost an order point.
ProtoManOrder Ability:: Wide Sword
Special Chip:: StepSword B
ProtoMan works similarly to Mega Man. His Wide Sword technique allows him to liberate up to three panels in front of him. Step Sword allows him to jump two columns and deliver a 100 damage wide sword. His charge shot is a 60 damage wide sword.
Knightman.EXEOrder Ability::
Special Chip::
Knightman's ability can't be summoned at will, but will be used if the situation permits it. When being attacked in the Darkloid phase, Knightman will defend any nearby enemies from attacks. He is immune to any physical attacks in the Darkloid phase, but can still become paralyzed. Order points aren't required for Knightman's defense.
MagnetManOrder Ability:: MagnetBarrier
Special Chip:: NSTackle M
MagnetMan is a fairly high HP navi. His MagnetBarrier protects all team mates from damage. NSTackle allows him to attack all enemies in a single row for 80 damage. His charge shot is a 50 damage Magnet Missle that is launched down a row and can then turn on a column.
ShadowMan.EXEOrder Ability::
Special Chip::
The speedy ShadowMan can launch a Sneak Attack on two vertical panels and harm the darkloid occupying it for the cost of one order point, but also has the ability to move freely over any dark panels. This allows him to move ahead of the group and destroy darkholes, search for keys, and defeat any pesky darkloids.
GyroManOrder Ability:: BombLiberation
Special Chip:: AirRaid G
GyroMan's special ability allows him to transform into a helicopter and fly over dark panels. This is useful for scoping out the area and for instantly liberating any non-item panel with BombLiberation without a battle. His Air Raid chip attack transforms into a helicopter, he then flys over the row he is standing on to drop bombs over every panel he flys over for 80 damage. BombLiberation and GyroMan's helicopter mode combined with Meddy's TwinLiberation make him a staple of Team Protoman.
TomahawkMan.EXEOrder Ability::
Special Chip::
TomahawkMan can liberate the two by three grid of panels directly in front of him with one powerful swing of his axe. While this is good for clearing out a large path, it will also destroy any item panels inside the grid, meaning you're risking losing a valuable find.
NapalmManOrder Ability:: Napalm
Special Chip:: Napalm N
Napalm allows NapalmMan to burn a T shaped or L shaped path through a series of Dark Panels with only one Liberation Battle for 3 Order Points. Napalm however, destroys all items in Dark Item Panels except for Barrier Keys. It is useful for moving rapidly. His Napalm ability is useful for dealing all around damage as if used from the back column and center row can deal 100 damage to anything in the enemy area (if it is a 3x3 area) so long as it does not hit an enemy.
NumberMan.EXEOrder Ability::
Special Chip::
NumberMan has the ability to scan a 2x3 area with an order point. He can obtain all items in this area and disable any traps as well.
SearchManOrder Ability:: PanelSearch
Special Chip:: Satelitery S
PanelSearch lets SearchMan liberate all Dark Item Panels in a row or column with only one liberation battle. Afterwards, he will disable all traps hidden in the panels and gain all items. Satelitery hits in a cross shaped area with the center dealing most damage but requires the operator to be able to pick the right square for the beam to hit.
ToadMan.EXEOrder Ability:: RallyLiberate
Special Chip::
ToadMan can use an order point to Rally a team member so that member can liberate five panels in. This can only be used on members who have not yet liberated.
MeddyOrder Ability:: TwinLiberation
Special Chip:: MeddyCap M
Meddy's TwinLiberation requires two Navis. One on one end of a row or column of dark panels and one on the other. GyroMan is prefered to this due to his GyroMode ability and BombLiberation. After TwinLiberation, all panels in that row or column will be liberated. Meddy's Cap, which is similar to her charged shot, lets her throw an explosive capsule.
Liberation Terms
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Phase-A phase is similar to a turn, and is only complete when all of the members of the party in action have made their move. Phases are split into two parts: Darkloid phases and Player phases.
Player Phase-This is where you move the navis on your team and attempt to liberate panels, destroy darkholes, and delete darkloids. Once all your team members have acted, the player phase ends.
Darkloid Phase-This is where the Darkloids and Dark Navi who are controlling an area of the internet move. The Dark Navi can use their special ability, and Darkloids can attack navis on your team if they are within striking range.
Target Phase-This is the maximum number of phases you can complete a mission to receive a rare chip as a reward. Anything over the maximum, and you get rewarded with zenny or a lesser chip instead.
Pass-If you select this command, the navi you are controlling will do nothing during the current phase, but at the start of the next phase, it will have recovered some HP.
Save-Selecting this command will allow you to save your game in the middle of the mission. Saving does not prevent you from liberating panels or choosing to pass, but can only be done one time during a phase.
Order Points-These allow you to use special liberation commands. Each special command takes away one order point.
Liberation Phases
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Team Phase
During this phase, each navi on Team Protoman will have an opportunity to move about and use one of his/her varied actions. These will be discussed later. It is important to note that there are no random virus attacks during the mission.
There are several types of panels to be aware of:
Normal Panel-This panel is simply a normal panel to run over
Dark Panel-This panel is one that appears to be filled with dark liquid, these are panels that the Team must liberate. Liberating will cause a virus battle that must be finished within 3 turns.
NOTE-When surrounded by multiple dark panels, liberating a panel becomes more difficult. However, if liberated in one turn, all dark panels surrounding your character will also be liberated.
Dark Item Panel-This panel is the same as a Dark Panel except that it has a gray square in the center. Once liberated, the character will gain an item.
Dark Hole Panel-This panel spawns Dark Enemies, a Dark Navi cannot be approached until all Dark Holes are liberated.
Dark Navi Panel-When attempting to liberate this panel, you will enter a boss fight. These fights also last three turns but all your navis can fight, the dark navi will not recover between fights.
Bonus Panel-When attempting to liberate this yellow ? panel, the liberating navi can receive order points, full HP, field invincibility, a battle chip, or a negative bonus. The navi is still allowed to liberate a dark panel after liberating a bonus panel.
Dark Phase
During this phase, the Nebula Navi can use it's special ability. Also, field dark enemies can move about the area and can be spawned from a dark hole. These enemies can also attack a navi if in range.
