BACKGROUND

Story (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Follwing the events of Mega Man X5, we find X battling mavericks with the aid of Zero's saber at his side. In order to defeat Sigma, Zero had sacrificed himself in the previous installment of the series and is currently nowhere to be found. However, a mysterious "Nightmare" Zero is about wreaking havoc and everyone believes it is the original. Confused by the appearance of this "new" Zero and unconvinced that Zero himself is truly dead, X sets off to unravel the mystery. Aside from Nightmare Zero, a new enemy to the maverick hunters has appeared. Gate, a former reploid scientist, becomes possessed by a strange material left around the grounds of the previous battle against Sigma. Under its influence, Gate's actions become even more eccentric and dangerous, leading to him being deemed a maverick by the hunters.
