This section lists and describes all the attacks, weapons, techniques, and special abilities in Mega Man X8.

Zero's Techniques (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Zero can acquire techniques after defeating Mavericks. With the exception of the Giga Attack, all techniques can be used an infinite number of times. All techniques require a specific button combination to perform. The combinations listed below are for default controls. Note: Layer, when unlocked, can also use these techniques. Note #2: Based on the weapon, some techniques have different names.

Zero's Weapons (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Zero can acquire different weapons to go along with his techniques. Each weapon is unique and gives Zero certain advantages in battle. By default controls, Zero can attack with his weapons using the square button. Zero can switch among his weapons using the L1/R1 buttons. Weapons are bought in the R&D Lab. Visit the Chips Guide for information on the price of each weapon. For locations of rare metals, visit the Rare Metals section. Note: Layer can also acquire these weapons.

X's Weapons (needs to be ported to the wiki!) X can acquire special weapons after defeating Mavericks. These weapons will consume weapon energy. Although the charged version is more powerful, it consumes more weapon energy. By default controls, special weapons are activated using the triangle button. X can switch among his weapons using the L1/R1 buttons. A weapon can also be selected using the Start screen. Note: Alia, when unlocked, shares these same weapons.

Double Team Attack (needs to be ported to the wiki!)

The Double Team Attack is a powerful attack that damages all enemies on the screen. By default controls, the Double Team Attack is activated using the R2 button. This will send out a shockwave. Requirements:

The shockwave must hit a nearby enemy.

Both characters must be alive.

The attack (yellow-green) gauge must be full. Once done, the attack will commence. The background will be green and full of running codes (like The Matrix.) If the Double Team Attack delivers the final blow to a boss, the background will be orange instead.

X fires a blue laser beam at the enemy. This is the similar to the Icarus armor's charged shot.

Zero extends his saber and constantly slashes.

Axl rapidly fires with twin guns.

Axl's Guns (needs to be ported to the wiki!) Axl can acquire special guns after defeating Mavericks. These guns have infinite bullets and don't consume weapon energy. By default controls, Axl's guns are fired using the square button. By holding onto the square button, Axl can rapid fire. He can fire his guns in 8 directions. Note: Pallette, when unlocked, can also use these guns.
